Next Thursday the Alcudia Jazz cycle will start in the Ca'n Torró
Library.
With a total of five performances by wellknown artists, the Alcudia
Jazz cycle will offer a complete range of the different styles of Jazz.
In the first concert, on Thursday August 30 at the
Biblioteca
Ca'n Torró, New Orleans Jazz by Gumbojass Band will be heard.
This first concert is free but the invitations have all been taken, limited
by the space available in the patio at Ca'n Torró.
The rest of the concerts will be held in September at the
Auditori
de Alcúdia, tickets cost 2,000 pesetas and can be acquired
via telephone 971897185.
The first concert at the Auditroium, on Friday 7, will be by the pianist
Chano Domínguez, who will present a mixture of jazz and flamenco.

On Friday 14, the Catalan group, New Orleans Blue Stompers and the singer
Big
Mama will give a traditional Jazz concert dedicated to the Centenary
of
Louis Amstrong.
The young group led by the bass player,
David
Mengual from Barcelona and the drummer
Jo
Krause will perform works by
Thelonious
Monk, on Friday 21.
Finally, on Friday 28, the Mallorcan band, Franco Bobelli Trio and the
saxophonist Molly Duncan will close the festival with "jam sessions".
The Franco Bobelli Trio is formed by the Swiss pianist who lives on Mallorca
and gives the name to the group, by the drummer Miquel Navarrete and the
double bass player Toni Cuenca.
