Patron saint festivities in Consell

The municipality of Consell is celebrating these days the festivities for Sant Bartomeu. The programme started last Wednesday with the traditional raising of the flag and on Sunday the proclamation by Ramon Rosselló Vaquer. Throughout the week there will be a series of cultural, entertainment and sports activities.

On Friday 24, Sant Bartomeu, the main day of the fiestas, as from 10 a.m. there will be street parade and traditional races "joies" accompanied by the group of "sonadors" made up by Miquel Tugores (xeremier) and Pere Martorell (pipe and drum). At 7 p.m. the street parade will continue with the Cornet and Drum Band of Consell and at 8 p.m. the Mass. Sant Bartomeu's day will end with a rock concert by 'Queen' and Mal Vici, with the local groups Txifon, Llibertat Condicional and Un plat de xoxitos.

On Saturday August 25, there will be bicycle 'ribbon' races, clay pigeon shooting, various children's activities and the dance with the orchestras Salsa 4, Orquidea Big Band and Química latina.

The fiestas will end on the evening of Sunday 26 with the prize giving for the "XIII Certamen de Teatre Amateur de Consell i del Teatre Principal" and the performance of the work "Els monòlegs i diàlegs d'es Mascle Ros", by the guest group Nostra Terra. At midnight a grand firework display will end the fiesta programme this year.
