Maria de la Salut is
celebrating these days its patron saint fiestas with a wide programme of
popular, cultural and sports activities for everybody. The fiestas
started last Thursday, August 30, and will continue until Sunday, September
9.
The reading of the proclamation of the fiestas, this year by Lluís
Maicas, will take place on Thursday 6 at 10 p.m., and the main events will
take place during the weekend.
On Friday morning there will be traditional games and, at night, popular
supper at the square of the village with music by Arpellots Havaners Band.
On Saturday, the main day of the fiestas, there will be a street parade
as from 10.30 a.m., the Solemn Mass at 11 a.m., and popular races at noon.
In the afternoon, snail races, children games and other activities. The
day of the Patron Saint will finish with fire races by the Sa Pobla devils,
dancing with the groups Orquestrina d'Algaida and Fet a Mà, and
in the end, chocolate with Mallorcan ensaimadas for everybody.
The programme will finish on Sunday night, with theatre by the group
Vostè Perdoni at 10 p.m. and with a grand firework display.
