The 25th anniversary of the death of Rafel Ginard i Bauçà
is on October 15, 2001. He was a significant expert in folklore and literature,
predilect son of Sant Joan. The master work by Ginard are the four volumes
"Cançoner popular de Mallorca", the culmination of 40 years of constant
and passionate investigation into the popular songs in all corners of Mallorca.
The "Cançoner popular de Mallorca" comprises, together with the
"
Rondalles Mallorquines"
by
Alcover and the "
Diccionari
Català-Valencià-Balear" by Alcover-Moll, the "grand trilogy
of the Catalan language", "three monuments" -in words by
F.
de B. Moll- "perpetuate with unequalled dimensions in any other hispanic
region, the triple verbal manifestation of the spirit of our peoples: language,
legends and poetry of the land."
For this occasion, the
Col·lectiu
Teranyines from Sant Joan has organised some activities that will start
on Saturday, October 13, with a concert by the Coral Mareny de Vilassar
de Dalt (Barcelona) and the Coral de Sant Joan, that will be held at the
Sant Joan Parish Church, at 7.30 p.m. On October, 20, as from 10 a.m. there
will cultural activities for youngsters (from 3 to 18 years) and at 7.30
p.m., at the church, a conference by Baltasar Coll, about Rafel Ginard
i Bauçà's live.
