On Saturday, the Santa Margalida 2002 Fair started and once again the
programme is full of festive proposals: exhibitions, conferences, concerts,
work shops, sports activities and a long etcetera. Amongst these activities
worth mentioning is the performance by the Mallorcan Dancing Schools Aires
Vileros and Aires de Montision de Porreres on the evening of Friday 22,
in the plaza de s'Abeurador, and the concert by Maria del Mar Bonet in
the parish church on Saturday 23 at 10 p.m.
Without doubt the most important event on the programme is the fair
on Sunday 24, that will start at 9 a.m. with the opening of the exhibitions
and animal contests that will last throughout the day with artisan and
other varied exhibitions, horse demonstrations, ribbon dances...
As every year, coinciding with the Fair, the web LaVila.org revives
full of novelties, such as a debate forum that has started up with a poll
on the work by the municipal governing team and a report on the figure
of Joan March Ordinas, that includes full information about the life of
this controversial 'Vilero' (local resident). Meanwhile, worth stressing
is the inclusion of an interesting article about "Coques, cocarrois, panades,
crespells.." (Mallorcan pastries) by Mossèn Antoni Rubí
and the complete programme for the Fair, that this year links with the
Diada Ciclista to be held on April 21, between Santa Margalida, Can Picafort
and Son Serra.
