The Passeig del Born in Palma will be
the scene of the Book Fair that will take place form May 31 to June 9,
organised by
Fires i Congressos
de Balears and the Bookshop Guild of Mallorca, with the support from
the
Mallorcan Council and
collaboration from the
Palma Town Council.
This year the fair will have 30 stands and according to the Guild, the
visitors will be able to enjoy over fifty thousand books.
The Mallorcan writer Sebastià Alzamora will read the official
proclamation of the Book Fair 2002. The previous readers have been Joan
Guasp (2001), Pere Morey i Servera (2000), Alexandre Ballester (1999),
Biel Mesquida (1998), Antoni Serra (1997), Antònia Vicens (1997),
Antoni Vidal Ferrando (1995), Maria Antònia Oliver (1994), Josep
Maria Palau i Camps (1993), Isabel Clara Simó (1992), Miquel Àngel
Riera (1991), Carme Riera (1990), Gonzalo Torrente Ballester (1989), Gabriel
Janer Manila (1988), Miquel Rayó i Ferrer (1987), Nadal Batlle (1986),
Valentí Puig (1985), Baltasar Porcel (1984) and Gabriel Sabrafín
(1983).
During the ten days of the fair, there will be numerous activities,
both in the stage installed in the Plaça Joan Carles I, where there
will be performances, and in the stands, in which booksellers and editors
have organised the presentation and signing of books.
Visiting times:
Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays: de 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
