RIU Hotels & Resorts figures amongst
the 50 greatest exporting firms in Spain, according to the
classification
recently published by the magazine
Fomento
de la Producción.
In fact, the publication situates Riu Hotels in the 43rd position in
their ranking "Champions 2001 of Exports" with a turnover abroad of 430
million euros. Of the 96 hotels in the chain, 38 are outside Spain, distributed
in 9 different countries.
Riu Hotels started their internacionalisation in 1991 when they opened
their first hotel in the Caribbean, Riu Taíno in Punta Cana (Dominican
Republic). The chain foresees opening new establishments in the next few
months in Morrocco, Bulgaria, and Mexico.
