An exhibition dedicated to the architect, Antoni Gaudí, at
the Casal Balaguer and International Days on Gaudinist Studies at the Gran
Hotel.
The Casal Balaguer, in the calle Unió in Palma, will hold from
June 6 to July 6, 2002, the itinerant exhibition, "Gaudí x Gaudí",
organised by the
CAM with the collaboration
by the
Palma Town Council.
The exhibition presents photographs of the sixteen main works carried
out by the architect,
Antoni
Gaudí i Cornet (Reus, 1852 - Barcelona, 1926), that include
the restoration and decoration of the
Cathedral
of Palma de Mallorca. The photographs are accompanied by texts by Joan
Bergós, Isidre Puig Boada, Josep F. Ràfols and Cesar Martinell,
pupils and friends of Gaudi, who took on in different works, part of the
thinking of the ingenious Catalan architect.
The entrance to the exhibition is free and visiting times are from Tuesday
to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 5.30 to 8.30 p.m.
Meanwhile, under the monographic theme, "Gaudí in Mallorca",
from June 6 to 8, 2002 there will be at the Cultural Centre of the
"la
Caixa" Foundation, in the old Gran Hotel building in the plaza Weyler
in Palma, the
"IX
International Days on Gaudinist Studies", organised by the
Palma
Town Council, the
Center of Gaudinist
Studies, the
Official Association
of Technical Architects of Mallorca and the
"la
Caixa" Foundation, in collaboration with the
Cabildo
of the Cathedral, the
COAIB and the
Escola
Universitària Politècnica de Barcelona. The director
of the Days, part of the
"International
Gaudi Year", is Pere Joan Llabrés i Martorell, canon of the
Palma Cathedral, and diocese delegate of the Cultural Heritage. Llabrés
will read the opening lesson with the title "La liturgia en la restauración
de la catedral de Palma, el obispo Campins y Gaudí".
The relationship of Gaudí with the island of Mallorca lasted
14 years and not only consist of restoration and decoration of the
Catedral
de Palma, but also that he participated in the format of the holy way
Pujol dels Misteris
in the
Santuari de Lluc.
