Santanyí is celebrating these days the festivities for Sant
Jaume with a complete programme of activities: exhibitions, sporting competitions,
children's entertainment, open-air dances, cinema, etc.
The central part of the programme will be held on Wednesday 24 and Thursday
25, the day of the Saint. On Wednesday, street parades and children's games
as from 6 p.m., and open air dance at 10.30 p.m., with the groups Skyiline
and La Unión, followed by the disco music show "Fiesta de los 40
principales". On Thursday, at 10.30 a.m., the local Music Band will play
the traditional "Albada", followed by the Mass. At noon there will be the
inauguration of the building works carried out in the Town Hall and the
Plaça Major, and the celebration of the 100 years of the building
with a drink for everybody. At 6 p.m. there will be folk dances by the
students of the Flor de Cirerer school, and at 10 p.m. theatre by the group
Producció Pròpia de s'Alqueria Blanca. The fiestas will end
with a fire work display.
On Friday, July 26, there will be a night treasurehunt organised by
the local youth group S'Esclafit.
