Fiestas for "Saint James" in Algaida

Algaida will celebrate between July 11 and 26 the "Festes de Sant Jaume 2002", with a complete programme organised by the Town Hall that includes activities for all ages, particularly those that encourage direct participation by the public.

Sport, music, theatre, films, photography, exhibitions, workshops, games, etc. form the festive proposal for Sant Jaume with the collaboration from different entities and social, cultural and sports associations of the town.

This year there will be a complete programme of concerts. Worth mentioning is the performance by Fora des sembrat, Wiskyn's, Syphosis and Mal vici on July 20; the open air dance with music by Orquestrina d'Algaida, Tumbet de Solfa and Coktail, on July 24; and the final concert by the English Flying Pickets on July 26.

Els cossiers, once again, will be the centre of attention for the festivities, when they dance "el quadrat" the eve of Sant Jaume, on July 24 (8 p.m.), and the following day, Thursday 25, when they dance the offertory in the mass (11 a.m.) and afterwards dance in the church square.

All events free entry.
