Fiestas in Sineu

As from August 3, Sineu is celebrating the "Festes de la Mare de Déu d'Agost" with a varied programme of cultural, sporting and popular activities. On Wednesday, August 14, there will be children's theatre at 7 p.m. followed by a street parade by the xeremiers and the big-headed carnival figures of Sineu. At 10.30 p.m. there will be fire races by the group Diables de Sant Joan and the festive day will end with fire works and an open air dance with music by the groups Espais Verds, Rodamons and Filharmònica de Son Reus.

On Thursday 15, the day of the "Verge d'Agost", amongst other activities there will be street parades by the xeremiers at 10.30 a.m., traditional races of "joies", donkeys and horses at noon, and Solemn Mass at 8.30 p.m. The programme of the day will finish with an open air dance with music by the groups Champagne, Paco Guerrero and Pacha.

The fiestas will continue until August 24 with many activities, amongst which worth stressing are the folk dances by the groups Brot d'Alfabaguera and Copeo de Sineu (Friday 16) and the jazz concert by Trebalger Sax-Quartet (Saturday 17).
