Miquel Barceló's library

Miquel Barceló's library

The Fons Documental Miquel Barceló, situated in the Casa de Cultura de na Batlessa in Artà, is housing an installation called "La biblioteca de Miquel Barceló". The installation, carried out by Marta Torres with photographs by Agustí Torres, consists of an imaginary library inspired in the stone library that the artist, Miquel Barceló (Felanitx, 1957), has in the tower of his house in sa Devesa, at the foot of the puig de Ferrutx (Artà).

The exhibition, that will remain open until September 30 and has been commissioned by Amelie Aranguren and coordinated by Maria Hevia, shows the close relationship between the artist and his work with books.

The Casa de Cultura de na Batlessa belongs to the Artà Town Council and, as well as the Fons Documental Miquel Barceló, the building houses the Municipal Library, the Office of Youth Information and a permanent exhibition with information about the municipality that soon will be transferred to the old railway station, at present being rehabilitated. Part of the land behind this building built in 1900 were chosen to house the new Teatre d'Artà, the cultural equipment that was opened in June 2001.
