Juniper Serra's festivity in Petra

Father Juníper Serra, founder of California , is specially remembered these days in Petra, where he was born, because from last Friday the "Festa del Beat Juníper Serra" is being celebrated, organised by the Parish of Sant Pere and the Sant Bernadí Convent, with support from the Town Council.

Some of the most important activities of the programme will take place this weekend. On Saturday 14 there will be children's entertainment by Cucorba as from 6 p.m. and in the evening the traditional "vespres" and the Solemn Mass will take place, with participation by the Parish Choir. Afterwards, Ramon Andreu and Rumiko Harada will give a violin and harpsichord concert.

On Sunday at 11.30 a.m., Solemn Mass at the Parish of Sant Pere and at 5.30 p.m. concentration of horses, carts, xeremiers, peasants and floats that represent allegoric figures and symbols of the Beat Juníper Serra. At 6.m. the awaited procession will begin, followed by the floral offering, and a concert by Herbes Dolces.
