The fiestas for Santa Bàrbara began today in Vilafranca with
a lecture by
Carlos Garrido
about the interpretation of the "Magic Mallorca". The programme, including
an varied choice of activities, will continue until December 8. This Saturday,
there will be a popular dance with music by Vilafranquins and
Música
Nostra, and on Sunday, December 1, amongst other activities, there
will be an excursion on foot and a mountain bike trip around the municipality.
As for the cultural events, worth stressing are the
two
theatre performances by Teatre de Guerrilla and the
Certamen
de Cançó de Vilafranca that will take place in the Municipal
Theatre.
The 'bunyolada', the most popular event of the Santa Bàrbara
fiestas, will take place on Wednesday, December 4, the day of the patron
saint. First at 8 p.m. will be the Mass with the traditional "Ball de l'Oferta"
by the group Vilafranca Balla i Bota; afterwards there will be "bunyols"
(airy doughnuts) for everyone, attended by the whole town.
The complete programme is available on the web of the
Town
Council.
