The Museum of Mallorca will offer this Christmas an exhibition, a
concert and a cycle of conferences.
"Així començà el Betlem a Mallorca" is the title
of the exhibition that covers the history, iconography and influence of
the Nativity Scene of the old convent de Jesus in Palma, one of the oldest
Nativity Scenes in Europe with pieces dating from the XV and XVI centuries.
The exhibition, that can be visited from December 18 to February 2 is also
presenting a nativity scene from 1820 from the convent of Santa Elisabet.
Meanwhile, the group Ensemble B will give a concert of Baroque music
on Wednesday December 18 at 8.15 p.m.
"The popular literature according to the calendar" is the title of the
cycle of conferences that the Museum of Mallorca has organised together
with the collaboration from

Museu Llorenç Villalonga from Binissalem. The programme
is the following: "Les representacions de Nadal al teatre antic"
by Pere Santandreu, Tuesday December 17 at 8 p.m. (Binissalem). "Nadal
a Mallorca: from the Sibil·la to Nuredduna", by P. Gabriel Llompart,
Thursday December 19 by P. Gabriel Llompart, Thursday December 19 at 8
p.m. (Museu de Mallorca). And "La celebració de Nadal a Mallorca
avui", by Pere Joan Llabrés, Friday December 20 at 8 p.m. (Binissalem).
