The Sala de Paper of the
Sa Nostra
cultural centre in Palma is holding from January 28 to February 8 the exhibition
"Terres de Baliar" with drawings and water-colours by the biologist and
artist
Juan Varela. The works
are the originals that were used to illustrate the book "Les Terres de
Baliar. Apunts de natura i de paisatge", by Juan Varela and the biologist
Joan Mayol, published by Sa Nostra in 1999.
The Sa Nostra Foundation has decided to sell these original drawings
and water-colours to benefit the
programme
for the recovery of marine birds affected by the Prestige oil slick,
coordinated by
SEO/BirdLife with collaboration
from the
GOB.
More over, the biggest hall of the Sa Nostra Cultural Centre in Palma
is holding until February 8, an
anthological
exhibition dedicated to Antoni Gelabert (Palma, 1877 - Deià,
1932), considered to be the principal referent of the artistic renovation
led by the modernism and the most outstanding Mallorcan artist of the first
half of the XX century.
