The "la Caixa" Foundation in plaza Weyler in Palma will house on Tuesday,
March 18, at 8 p.m., the first concert of the Cycle of Instrumental and
Vocal Music organised by the "la Caixa" Foundation. This first concert
will be by the well-known Spanish-Argentinian guitarist Ernesto Bitetti
who will play works by Granados, Albéniz, Villa-Lobos, Moreno Torroba,
Dyens and Piazzolla.
The cycle will continue until May with the following concerts: Joan
Martín-Royo, baritone, and Roger Vignoles, piano (April 2, 8 p.m.),
chamber music by Mandelring Quartet (April 29, 8 p.m.), Neal Peres da Costa,
piano, and Daniel Yeadon, violoncello (May 6, 8 p.m.), the Renaissance
cabaret Doulce Mémoire (May 13, 8 p.m.) and the Hollander group
Egidius Kwartet (May 27, 8 p.m.).
The programme also includes the traditional Easter Concert, on April
9 at 9 p.m. in the Basílica de Sant Francesc de Palma. This concert
will be by the Orquesta Nacional de Cámara de Andorra, the Orfeó
Català and the Coral Juvenil de Juventudes Musicales, who will play,
conducted by Vila, "The Passion according to Saint Matthew" by Johann Sebastian
Bach.
