ARCA-Llegat Jueu, (ARCA-Jewish Legacy) a cultural association dedicated
to the information and preservation of the cultural heritage of the Balearics,
has organised an inter cultural meeting for peace that will be held on
Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. till midnight, in the head office of ARCA
in the Calle de la Pau, behind the Corte Inglés in Jaume III in
Palma.
In the morning and in the afternoon different workshops will be held
(Majorcan folk dancing, belly dancing, Mallorcan cane instruments, Sefardi
music, jugglers..) as well as a market with a Mehari Solidari stand that
will offer Arab food, and also stands of the Plaza Mayor artisan association.
From 8 p.m. until midnight there will be concerts by Misraj (a Mallorcan
group of Sefardí and oriental music), Aharggar (an Algerian group)
and
Judith Cohen, prestigious
Canadian ethnic musicologist who will offer a recital of Sefardí
and Jewish music.
The participation in all the workshops and the access to the market
area has a gate price of 6 euros. The entrance to the concerts also
costs 6 euros. These can also be acquired at Xocolat Centre for 10
euros including the access to the precinct all day, plus the access to
the concert with a free drink.
