The Partido Popular, having obtained 39,84 % of the votes, becomes
the main political party in Calvia, and the PSIB-PSOE with 38,43 % of the
votes, loses the absolute majority. These results produce a tie in the
number of councillors obtained by these two groups. Therefore, the candidature
of the Partido Popular, led by Carlos Delgado, obtains 10 councillors,
2 more than the previous elections, and the candidature of the PSIB-PSOE
led by Margarita Nájera also obtained 10 councillors, two less than
the previous elections. The key to the government of the Calvia council
now rests with Unió Mallorquina, who with 7,58% of the votes obtained
by the candidature led by Isidre Cańellas, has maintained the position
they already had in the previous council. The decision by Unió Mallorquna
will depend mainly on the pacts that this party will have to carry out
with its previous partners in the Progress Pact, or the Partido Popular
to obtain the necessary majority to keep Antňnia Munar in the presidency
of the Mallorcan Council.
