On May 16, 17 and
18 the castle of Capdepera will hold the fourth edition of the Medieval
Market, a popular event that was organised for the first time in 2000 within
the events to celebrate the
700
years of the Castell de Capdepera. On May 19 they will also commemorate
the recovery of the municipal ownership of the castle that took place in
1983.
But the programme of activities has already begun and worth stressing
is the "Primera gran diada Castellera de Capdepera" that will be held on
Sunday 11, with the participation of the giants of Capdepera, Manacor,
Palma, Alaró, Inca, Calvià and the Consell de Mallorca.
On Friday 16, as from 6 p.m. there will be a medieval street parade
through the centre of Capdepera and, at 7 p.m. the proclamation will be
read in the Castle chapel by the writer and painter Joan "Rai", followed
by a concert by the Coral S'Alzinar and the official opening of the Medieval
Market.
On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 the Medieval Market will stay open from
10 a.m. till 8 p.m. These days the artisans will show their trade and sell
the products made, while medieval jugglers, acrobats and musicians will
entertain the visitors.
