Eleven municipalities on Mallorca will participate in an original cart
race called "
Davallada
als inferns" (descent into hell). Organised by the Youth Service of
the
Consell de Mallorca,
the race has ten semi-finals that will be held between September 20 and
October 4 in Alcúdia, Andratx, Banyalbufar, Binissalem, Capdepera,
Llubí, Manacor, Porreres, Petra and Santanyí. The first three
classified in each semi-final, two for speed and one for design, will take
part in the final that will take place on Saturday, October 11 in Sineu,
where once the competition is over there will be a popular dinner, show
and end of fiesta. The first prize will be a trip worth 600 euros, the
second and that for the best design will be worth 200 euros each.
Youngsters over 14 can register for the race. The cart has to be home
made, without an engine or pedals, and must have at least three wheels,
brakes and steering, with a maximum size and weight of 2 metres and 150
kilos.
