Coinciding with the celebration of the
seventh
"Nit de l'Art", last Thursday, September 18 three new exhibitions were
opened in the Casal Solleric in Palma.
The main floor of the Casal Solleric is presenting until November 14
the exhibition called "Bellver. Cartography, self portraits and other lies".
The exhibition, produced by the
CAM with
the collaboration of the
Palma Town Council,
is a retrospective show dedicated to
Fernando
Bellver (Madrid, 1954), creator trained in the Escuela de Artes y Oficios
in Madrid and dedicated principally to etchings, although he also works
with drawing, painting, sculpture and photography.
At the same time, the ground and mezzanine floors of the Casal Solleric
will house until October 31 the exhibition "50 anys del taller de gravat
Joan Barbarà". The show, commissioned by Tristan Barbarà,
the artist's son, will gather together a selection of representative works
by Joan Barbarà in the field of etching since 1950, when he created
his first work shop in the calle Argenteria in Barcelona. Barbarà
has worked with the most outstanding artists of the XX century, and in
this show there are etchings by Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí,
Picasso, Antoni Tàpies, Miquel Barceló, Rafa Forteza or by
Joan Barbarà himself, amongst others.
The third exhibition open coinciding with the Nit de l'Art is the installation
"Búnker" by the artist, Enrique Marty, that can be visited in the
Espai Quatre, the hall in the basement of the Solleric, until November
30.
Finally, in the patio of the cultural centre, the works of the finalists
of the Design section of the
Art
Jove 2003 prize, are on show from September 4 to 27.
Entrance is free and the visiting times are from Tuesday to Saturday
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. and on Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m.
to 1.30 p.m., closed on Mondays.
