Caimari, small village of Selva, is celebrating the sixth edition of
the "Olive Oil Fair" dedicated to olives and the production of oil.
Amongst the activities already held, worth stressing is the presentation
by the Balearic Minister for Education, Francesc Fiol, of the book "Parc
Etnològic de Caimari. Guia de visita", by Antoni Ordinas Garau.
The Ethnological Parc of Caimari is an open air museu presenting traditional
rural tools and constructions such as a "sitja" of charcoal, a "forn de
calç" (lime kiln), a "coll de tords" (special bird trap)... and
as a novelty, a "casa de neu" (snow house), a new element that will be
officially presented coinciding with the opening of the fair, on Saturday,
November 15, at 4 p.m.
This Park, together with the oil presses of
Oli Caimari and the new "trencadora
d'ametles" (almond huller) in Ca na Bielona, will be most crowded places
on the fair and will continue open all day Sunday 16. There will also
be demonstration and tasting activities, an exhibition of animals, old
cars and bikes, and many other activities.
