The programme organised by the
Palma
Town Council for the Fiestas de Sant Sebastià, the city's
patron saint, started on Saturday, with a street parade with giants,
xeremiers, dancers and dragons... The most popular celebration of the
fiestas is the
dance
for Sant Sebastià, that will take place on Monday 19, with
many performances in different parts of the centre of Palma.
The programme of activities, available on the web of the
Palma Town Council, includes many
other activities, such as the "VII Mostra de cinema i
vídeo de
Palma", a complete choice of theatre shows in the Teatre Sans,
Teatre Municipal
Xesc Forteza, Teatre Municipal and Teatre del Mar, and an alternative
concert on Saturday 17, at 9 p.m. in the Plaça
Major with performances by Buzzcoks, Tonino Carotone, The Nash,
Glycerine,
Mostros and Kashmir. It is also worth stressing the Aiguafoc fire show
that will take place on Tuesday 20, the day of Sant Sebastià, at
8 p.m., in the bay of Palma.
The events will end on Sunday, January 25, with a fire race
("Correfoc") at 8 p.m. in the Parc de la Mar.
