Fiestas in Alaró, Andratx, Colònia de Sant Pere, Escorca...
Following the summer festive calendar, after the fiestas for Sant Joan, the fiestas for Sant Pere are held, around June 29. And so, this weekend there will be festivities in Alaró, Andratx, Búger, Colònia de Sant Pere, Escorca, Esporles, Port d'Alcúdia, Port de Sóller...
The fiestas in Alaró, known as the fiestas of Los Damunt as they are organised by the neighbours of this ancient district of Alaró, will start on Thursday at 8.30 p.m. with a street parade by giants and local drummers, and with a "correfoc" firework run. The programme of events, that includes the traditional cooking fair and dances all weekend, will end on Sunday 27 with open air cinema.
The main dish of the fiestas in Andratx is the concert by La Cabra Mecánica, on Friday 25 at 10.30 p.m. behind the Town Hall. But also important is the dance on Saturday, with music by La Década Prodigiosa, Bacur y Acuarius, as well as the light operetta that can be seen on July 7, 9 and 11.
The municipality of Escorca celebrates its fiestas on Tuesday 29 in the old chapel of Sant Pere, with a mass at 7 p.m. followed by a dinner organised by the Town Council.
As for Esporles, the fiestas will begin on June 24 with a street parade and the official proclamation of the fiestas, and will continue until Tuesday 29 will all sort of activities.
In the coastal resorts of Colònia de Sant Pere, Port d'Alcúdia and Port de Sollér, the sea is an important element of the fiestas. In the Colònia de Sant Pere, for example, amongst many other activities this Friday there will be a concert by Nou Romancer with grilled sardines on the beach, and on Tuesday 29 after the mass at 7.30 p.m. there will be the traditional sea procession.
In Alcúdia, the patron fiesta of the fishermen will also have an outstanding maritime character. So on Sunday night, June 27, there will be grilled sardines and Havana songs with the group Sotavent, and on Tuesday 29, day of Sant Pere, there will be a procession on land and sea. A long list of events that will link with the fiestas of La Victoria complete the programme.
In Sóller, the Sant Pere procession will take place on Monday evening, instead of the day of Sant Pere. The activities begin on Friday, June 25 with a youth night featuring performances by the local bands Inside and Sa Teva Tia, amongst others, and will end on Tuesday 29th with a show by Ballet Brasileño and fireworks.
