Summer Programme at the Bellver Castle
Music and Theatre for the summer evenings.
Once more the patio of the Bellver Castle will be the scene this summer for numerous events programmed by the Palma Town Council. This year's programme started last June 18 and will continue until September 3..
On June 28 the Capella Mallorquina, directed by Josep M. Moreno, will give a concert of fragments of operas by Puccini, Verdi, Saint Saëns, Bellini and Rossini, amongst others..
In July there will be a new edition of the Music Festival at the Bellver Castle with four concerts on 7, 14, 21 and 28 by the Balearic Symphonic Orchestra. Also on July, on the 9th, there will be an acoustic rock concert by the singer songwriters from USA, Elliott Murphy and Sid Griffin; on the 16th the Catalan singer Gerard Quintana will present his second work alone called "Les claus d sal", and on the 23rd there will be a concert by the Palma Municipal Band. Flamenco will close the July programme with a concert by Carmen Linares who will interpret old popular songs collected by Federico García Lorca.
In August, there will be a new edition of the International Music Festival "Serenates d'Estiu", organised by Palma Jeunesses Musicales, with five classical music concerts that will take place on the days 2, 11, 16, 23 and 30. The other concerts programmed for August are by Max Raabe & Palast Orchester who will perform popular German music on the 6, the American Spiritual Ensemble who will perform Spirituals and Jazz Songs on the 13, and by Horacio de Tomaso who will interpret instrumental tangos on the 20. The August programme will also include a play on 26 and 27, "Exemplaridades Cervantinas" by the Valladolid Teatro La Quimera company.
The summer programme in the Bellver Castle will end at the beginning of September with two concerts. On September 1 the Mallorcan couple, Tomeu Estaràs and Genia Tobin, will present their latest record called "Quan tu sonneras, je chanterais". Finally, Teresa Berganza will give a lyrical concert on September 3.
