Sa Llonja de Palma, one of the most emblematic buildings of civil Gothic style, is housing until May 21st the exhibition "Sert, half a century of architecture 1928-1979". The exhibition reviews the biography and professional trajectory of Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert (Barcelona, 1901-1983) with models, pictures and audiovisual material.

Josep Lluís Sert, one of the most important architects of the 20th century, studied at the Superior School of Architecture in Barcelona and worked in Paris with Le Corbusier. After the Spanish civil war he moved to New York and in 1953 he openned a studio in Cambridge. In the 70's he returned to Spain and built his home in Eivissa and, amongst other works, he projected the Joan Miró Work Shop in Palma and the headquarters of the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona.

The exhibition, commissioned by architects Jaume Freixa and Josep Maria Rovira, is an original idea of the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona. It is an itinerant exhibition that has reached Palma thanks to the Department of Culture of the Balearic Government, the Caixa Catalunya Foundation and the Official Association of Architects from the Balearic Islands.
