Catalan puppets at Sa Nostra

Until June 2, an exhibition called "L'exposició dels titellaires catalans" can be visited in the entrance patio of the Centre de Cultura Sa Nostra in Palma.

The exhibition wishes to promote puppet theatres and the puppeteer profession, and shows fifty pieces of the most varied styles and techniques of this both ancient and modern scenic art, from all professional groups of Puppet Theatre in Catalunya.

The exhibition is divided in four areas attending to the position of the manipulation of the scene. The first area has the the puppets moved from below. The second groups those worked from behind. The third presents the ones moved from above. And the fourth is the group that animates by projecting shadows, transparencies or silhouettes on a screen.

The exhibition, promoted by the Unió Internacional de la Marioneta de Catalunya, is part of the III Festival Internacional de Teresetes, that is being held these days, until May 20 in Mallorca, organised by the group Serveis Culturals Assistència Palmesana.
