Prospects and new challenges for sustainable European tourism
Europe gives support to the environmental and cultural conservation.
The European Parliament adopted at the plenary session of September 8 the text "Prospects and new challenges for sustainable European tourism". The report presents various initiatives which were considered viable and useful to the central goal of sustainability in tourism EU-wide. The resolution "invites the Commission, with a view to boosting the Community's contribution to the sustainability of European tourism, to help to promote and foster pilot projects such as the 'Green Card' scheme in the Balearic Islands, since such projects constitute good practice and show that it is possible to create new formulae to achieve a balance between the development of the tourism industry and the protection of the environment."
The European Parliament also adopted at the plenary session the "Tourism and development" resolution.
