The programme organised by the
Palma
Town Council for the Fiestas de Sant Sebastià, the city's patron
saint, will start on Saturday, January 12, at 11 a.m., with a street parade
having giants, xeremiers, dancers and dragons... going via Plaça
de l'Olivar, Sant Miquel, Plaça Major and Colom, and ending at Cort,
where the group
Música Nostra
will read the proclamation of the fiestas. Finally there will be a popular
dance at the same Plaça de Cort, with music by
Música
Nostra.
On Sunday 13, at 11 a.m. there will be a meeting of
Music
Bands at Ses Voltes with the participation of six groups: Santa Cecília
de Son Rapinya, s'Almudaina, Unió Musical de Son Cladera, Agrupació
Musical d'es Camp Rodó, Nostra Terra de Son Ferriol and Banda de
Música de Palma.
The fiestas will continue until Sunday 27 with many cultural and festive
proposals. The dance for Sant Sebastià, on Saturday 19, is the most popular
celebration of the fiestas, and this year it will include performances
by
Fora des Sembrat,
Ocults,
Mesclat,
La
Gran Orquestra Republicana,
El
Diablo en el Ojo,
Xaloc
Música,
Jarabe de Palo,
El Fari and Bertín Osborne, amongst others.
