On April 5, in the
Recinto Ferial of the Llevant trading estate in Palma, the XVI edition of the Mallorcan Food Fair will
open. It is the most important and popular gastronomic activity of all those held in the Balearics, organised by the
Associació
Empresarial de Restauració de Mallorca.
Over 10 days, until April 14, 22 restaurants, five cooking schools, two distilleries, nine wine cellers, five pastry makers and two
coffee toasters, amongst other collaborators, will serve tables this year to nearly 62,000 people who usually attend the Fair to tickle
their palates with new and traditional dishes of the island's gastronomy.
But over and above the strictly culinary aspect, the "Mostra de Cuina" is also a cultural forum; in this sense, during the present
edition there will be a programme of conferences, presentation of books and wine tasting, that will inform the attending public about
important and attractive aspects of the gastronomic and oenological culture of Mallorca.
