On April 2,
in the
Trading estate in
Palma, the XVIX edition of the Mallorcan Food Fair will open. It is the
most important and popular gastronomic activity of all those held in the
Balearics, organised by the
Associació
Empresarial de Restauració de Mallorca with collaboration by
the Mallorca Insular Council, the Balearic Government, the Palma Town Council,
the Chamber of Commerce and several companies.
Over 10 days, until April 11, twenty-three restaurants, two cooking
schools, two distilleries, eight wine cellars, and four pastry makers,
amongst other collaborators, will serve this year to nearly 70,000 people
who usually attend the Fair to tickle their palates with new and traditional
dishes of the island's gastronomy.
But over and above the strictly culinary aspect, the "Mostra de Cuina"
is also a cultural forum. In this sense, during the present edition there
will be a programme of conferences and wine tasting, that will inform the
attending public about important and attractive aspects of the gastronomic
and oenological culture of Mallorca.
Full programme of conferences in the
Catalan
and
Spanish
versions of the news.
