"Mallorquinisch Wort für Wort" ("Mallorcan, word by word") is
the title of the conversation guide book for Catalan, (Balearic variety)
for German readers, published by Hans-Ingo Radatz with a view to
offering the self declared "lovers of Mallorca" some orientation to understand
basic Catalan, essential to capture the identity of the island.
The book facilitates a first contact with the language, and explains
the intricate relationship between oral Mallorcan and the written language,
the conflicts around the name of the language, a brief grammatical outline,
a list of 1000 most important words and a large number of phrases with
the literal translation (word by word) for encourage the understanding
of the syntax structure. The web presents an almost complete version
of the book published, except the vocabulary. The book is accompanied
by a cassette with all the mallorcan phrases pronounced by a native reader.
