Protection plan for the properties of the Archduke

Protection plan for the properties of the Archduke
The full council meeting of the Insular Council of Mallorca passed on Monday, April 8 2002 the Special Plan for the Protection of the Historic Place for the properties of the Archduke Ludwig Salvatore of Austria. The plan will  become effective as from the day after its publication in the Official Bulletin of the Balearic Islands.

The territorial field for the application of the approved norm is limited by the agreements of the Full Mallorcan Council meeting of October 6 and December 1 of 1997 which declared the stately homes acquired by Archduke Ludwig Salvatore of Austria between 1872 and 1901 in Valldemossa and Deià to be Properties of Cultural Interest with the category of Historic Place. These properties are: Miramar (1872), s'Estaca (1873), Son Ferrandell (1890), Son Gual (1894), sa Torre (1878), Can Costa (1901), Son Moragues (1883), sa Font Figuera (1898), and Son Galceran (1875), in Valldemossa; and Son Gallard (1896), Son Marroig (1877) and sa Pedrissa (1898), in Deià. The total area affected by the Plan is 1,756 hectares.

The creation of the Plan is based on current disposition in historic heritage, particularly Article 36 of the Law 12/1998, of December 21, for the Balearic Historic Heritage, and the Article 20 of the  Law 16/1985, of June 25, of the Spanish Historic Heritage. Both laws determine the necessary edition of a Special Protection Plan that regulates the use and action that can be carried out within the Properties of Cultural Interest, with the category of Historic Place, and guarantees the preservation of elements included.
